Supersampler

New York
Originally uploaded by kellybelly.

So my Supersampler arrived last night and its very cool. It doesn't have a flash so I have to take all day time shots. I took some this morning on the way to work. I cant wait for my other cameras to arrive.

Organised a night of comedy for our work social committee, through Just the Tonic. They are having stand-up nights at Madame JoJos on Wednesday nights all October. We are seeing Ed Byrne, Andy Zaltzman, John Oliver and Jon Richardson all for the bargain price of £7. I can't wait.

We are going to the The Big Chill for drinks tonight. Its Ville's last day tomorrow. He's heading off to Australia for a year. Lucky bastard.

Hackney Photos

Hackney is nearish to Bow (which is part of the Tower Hamlets borough) so if we ride up the canal we often ride through Hackney. I've been adding my photos to the pool and I saw this gem this morning.

Worth checking out if you live in the area (or even if you don't)...

Thursday night at the Elbow Room

Group picture
Originally uploaded by dwaas76.

We had our social committee do on Thursday night at the Elbow Rooms in Shoreditch. Was a great night out, although 2 for 1 cocktails and beer from 5 til 8 was a lot more dangerous than I anticipated. Lets just say I wasn't feeling 100% the next day.

Phil and I went to the Elusive Camel, Tower Bridge at 5am on Saturday to watch the AFL Grand Final. Sydney Swans beat the West Coast Eagles by 4 points much to the delight of the mainly Swans supporting crowd. Whilst cold beer didn't go down well at 5am-ish (never really does tho even if you have been at it all night) but the pasty I had was superb. I was gutted they ran out of meat pies.

The rest of the weekend has been pretty quiet. Watching Lost, I Heart Huckabees and some other movies.

The Work Crew

Another night out! This was Friday, taken by a now ex-work colleague (Scott) who is winging his way back to Canada tomorrow to finish his masters. Scott is in the middle.

We went to The Lanes in Brick Lane (well its actually Osbourne St but it goes into Brick Lane). Its a nice bar but one that holds sad memories as it was the last place I spoke to our work colleague Brett. Its the first time I had been back there since it happened. Its quite a nice bar, the food is good too altho a bit hipster.

We were going to stay in Brick Lane and have a curry (since there is a festival on) but we ended up going home and getting food from Bow Tandoori. They were the first takeaway curry place I tried in Bow and Ive stuck with them. They make a mean korma and sag aloo :D

I made it to Camden (and back)

Water Towers and Buildings
Originally uploaded by yahnyinlondon.

I finally made it to Camden and back on my bike. Phil and I went for a ride down there. I took a few photos along the way and added them to my London Urban set. Couple of nice ones in there. Camden on a Saturday is just crazy. 15 year old goths & punks pissed at 7pm on a weeknight. Being rowdy and generally horrible. Was I ever that bad? I guess in a way I was. Oh well. Its a sign Im getting old that I see these kids and think that surely they have better things to do? They just appeared sad more than anything else

Anyways today hasnt been very productive, aside from cleaning and being on the phone. The Stonehenge trip still hasnt happened but maybe next weekend?

Im going to watch the Eagles & Sydney play in the AFL Grand Final at the Camel Pub at Tower Bridge. For £15 you get 2 drinks and a pie with the footy on a big screen. Only bummer is it starts at 5am. Damn time difference.

Best be getting on with some freelance work I have avoided all weekend :)

Summer is over

What was that 4 days worth of Summer? Welcome to England. Next week Im supposedly having a break because we have quietened down a bit (just as our new designer starts) so Im going to upload the autumn colours again. Maybe I'll even get a chance to redesign this blog again!! Highly unlikely.

I went and bought almost all my birthday cards and presents for the rest of this year. I felt like being organised rather than realising the day before my friends birthday that I hadnt got them anything.

I wish I had some interesting plans to write about but its been work work work as per usual. Hopefully it will be fine on the weekend so we can go to Stonehenge and the Cheddar Gorge but who knows!! Not to mention my very delayed ride to Camden along the canals.

Summer

Albeit a bit late and brief, just like the English version!!! Im not sure how long I will keep this up for as its officially Autumn. I was hoping to redesign before now but its been a bit hectic lately. Today I have actually had a few quiet hours at work to do bits and peices on my blog Flickr photos. Aside from listening to the Aussies lose the Ashes.

Unfortunately now my break is over and I have another design to get on with.

Didn't quite make it to Stonehenge this weekend. The weekend was really rubbish. Crap weather and didnt do anything except watch some movies :(

Coleslaw

We got a Pointed Summer Cabbage in our Farmaround vegies yesterday so I made Coleslaw. Im totally addicted to coleslaw atm. Anywho, there is a good coleslaw recipe here.

Not much else to report. Im still watching the fourth series of 24. I never watched it when it was on teev because I thought I would be totally gutted if I missed an episode. I think that is the best thing about tv series on dvd. You can have like marathons.. like with Sex & The City.. I still have All Aussie Adventures to watch, although only a couple of episodes left.

For Sale

I had a sneaking suspicion the apartment Phil & I rent would be coming up for sale and this morning our letting agent confirmed it. We had a valuer and surveyor in recently and it all pointed towards the apartment being sold. If they sell it and the new buyers wish to move in, we are going to have 2 months to find somewhere else to live (although he did say we could agree an earlier date but thats not bloody likely from our end considering we only just moved in, now we are going to have to put up with people trapsing through the apartment and having to possibly move out after only 6 months). I can see positives - we can still find somewhere in Bow Quarter with perhaps outdoor space and away from the trains but I can see negatives - we are just settled in, we have to move our furniture, we may not find something suitable in BQ and not to mention changing our address on everything again! I guess thats the breaks with renting and not owning.

Phil and I went down to Canterbury on the weekend. Saw the Cathedral and walked around the town centre. We then drove along the coast, through Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate and then finished up in Sandwich (the place!) for a nice seafood meal at The Quay Side. I had lemon sole which was slightly undercooked but the vegies that went with it were really fresh and more than made up for it. Phil had sea bass with spinach and potatoes. I think he made the better choice as that looked and tasted fantastic. It was just a pity that the weather turned bad as soon as we got to the coast. I'll put up my pics tonight.

Sunday, I did some cleaning and prepared a roast dinner for a work friend Stu. It was his birthday Saturday and he hadn't been to our apartment before. Was a nice evening - just wish my cooking was a bit better! Didn't quite get to ride down along the canal to Camden but perhaps next weekend :)
