Im so tired

I just got out of bed and Im still so tired. I worked til about 4ish last night, then Phil picked me up from the office (he didn't really appreciate the wake-up call but he didn't even say a single word about doing it - bless).

Im thinking about a)going back to sleep or b)getting everything organised here so I can head to work.... I think I need a bit more sleep. I have to tidy up here and pack my bag because we are catching the Eurostar at 7pm tonight. w00t! Belgie land. I may have to practise my Dutch further (Im just concentrating on Dutch before I try to learn Flemish - they don't have any books anyway!)

Yeah.. I think sleep sounds like a good option.

J Sheekys

So we finally had our girls night out on Friday... We went to J Sheekys. It was absolutely fantastic (and rather expensive).. I had Wild Mushroom Risotto for entree, and Skate with Capers with a side of chips for a Main. Nicole, Sharon & Birgit shared a platter of mixed grilled fish which was huge. The food was absolutely delicious. Im still can imagine the taste of the risotto. Making me hungry actually just thinking about it. The service was really efficient too, without being in your face or cold like some fancy restaurants are. I couldn't wait to speak to my parents the next day to tell them about all the seafood on the menu... My folks would have loved it.

Didn't do much else this weekend as we are going to Belgium on Friday night. Then its moving all next week or so then its New York. Im going to need a rest after all this!

Madame JoJo's - Just the Tonic

The Stage

Some photos from our social committee do at Madame JoJos. We saw three acts - Ed Byrne, Andy Zaltzman, John Oliver, and the compere was Jon Richardson. The compere was hilarious.. and he heckled quite a few people from our office. Ed Byrne was also really good (and my reason for booking)... If you are looking for comedy events, check out Just The Tonic. Tickets are only £7 to the events in London.

The Great Court - British Museum

The Great Court
Originally uploaded by yahnyinlondon.

I can't believe it but I finally went to the British Museum and after only 2 years of meaning to. We only checked out the top floor but it was really interesting. I spent ages taking lots of photos but only a few came out. The Great Court is amazing. It is so strange to be inside but feel like you should be outside. Its quite surreal. Hopefully it wont take me two years to venture back that way again.

We also went to the Ultimate Burger afterwards for some grub.. I had just a cheeseburger and Phil had the minted lamb burger. The meat was great but it had some really sweet chutney type stuff on it. Strange... I recommend the onion rings though and skip the chips (which were pretty rubbish).

This is where we lost the Ashes *sob.

The Old Oval Stand

I went to The Oval to watch the AFL Game between Freo Dockers & West Coast Eagles. Since it was an exhibition match, you can tell they didn't really give a sh*t!! But after 2 years of not watching footy, that kinda didn't matter. Its not quite the same as going to Subi Oval - I really do miss going to the footy with the olds.

I had a few drinkies on Friday night at a pub just outside Liverpool St. Strangest pub atmosphere ever... Suits til 8pm and Essex after 8pm. Surely there are pubs in Essex? Anyways it was nice catching up with Dave & friends. After the footy Sat, I went and crawled into bed and didn't venture out again until Sunday.. Coming down with a bit of a sniffle that Phil had recently (thanks Phil). Did some cooking for the Belgies (Phil's friends were visiting) but that was energetic as it got.

Funny Phil's friends commented that last time, they could barely walk into his apartment (or room that he was renting) and they ate tesco ready meals. This time, they had an apartment with use of a pool, spa and steam room, not to mention a 3 course meal cooked for them (as well as English breakfasts and freshly brewed coffee)... what a difference a women makes hey?

Last but not least, I booked a weekend to Estonia in January next year. We are flying to the lovely Tallinn with EasyJet for the bargain price of £40 and found a 3 star hotel with their new hotels site for £120 for 3 nights. W00t! £100 weekend break. Now that isn't too bad.

Lots of Stuff!

Well - so much stuff to write about, so little time.

Saturday night we headed to the Nordic Bar on Newman St in London to see off our good friend Ville, I mentioned before that he was buggaring off to Australia. Well now he is gone... *cries. I wish him all the best in his travels and hope he gets to Perth.

So the weekend didn't hold much else but work, cleaning, making Pumpkin, Sweet Potato & Carrot soup .. the recipe says leek but I didn't have any so it ended up being that instead. Turned out pretty good, tho I way O-C'ed (Overcloved). Im completely obsessed with cooking Soup at the moment. Its the best way of using up vegies that would probably sit in our freezer. Last night I made Broccoli & Stilton and its waiting in the fridge for me at home. Excellent! Not only am I addicted to making soups, Im also badly addicted to Cheese.. brie, stilton, mozzarella, good ol cheddar.

Monday night and I headed off to Barfly Camden to see Malcolm Middleton, Absentee and Langhorne Slim. Langhorne was probably my favourite, despite being the opener. Absentee needed a bit more polish, great musicians but the female vocalist worked really well with the lead but the only words she sung were "du do du do". They were also way too loud for the venue. MM was great at the start and at the end but fell down in the middle due to sound problems. For £8 it was a good night. We also went to Wagamama for a bite to end beforehand.. mmm chicken dumplings!

Tonight, its the Hayward Gallery to see the new exhibition "Universal Experience". They have the coolest invites for the private viewings, hopefully I can keep it!
