Lol & New York
Ani gets abused by Chris Joyce I thought that was gold. Not sure whether it is him or not but supposedly the IP matches. (In case you don't know he plays in this band or something like that )
Anyways so Im back from NYC. It was fantastic, well except for the start. Phil decided to stay out drinking til about 5am that Friday and I wasn't happy jan at all. He got home, managed to get an hour or so sleep before I literally dragged him out of bed. I had to steal all the covers and actually push him off the bed. He was still pissed and running around the apartment doing silly buggars, while I tried to get him to shower and pack (and letting fly a few choice expletives). We finally got going, about 30 minutes after we should have, and just missed the train to Gatwick. We had to wait 20 minutes for the next one, so we were about an hour behind already. We got to Gatwick, to find major carnage, people everywhere. Now thats not unusual for London but you couldn't even move. Supposedly the computer check-in systems were fubar'ed and it was all being done manually. We had finally got through, and were the second last people to check our luggage through. I'd taken my sleeping tablets as soon as I got in line not realising the problem, so I was pretty sleepy (and not to mention a tad grumpy) by this stage. Just before we get to the counter, a women from security asked that I have my large suitcase searched. Now, I didnt have a problem with it but they are already telling people to rush to priority security check-in and go straight to the gate but this women wants to haul me away to search through my bag? I was sh*tting myself, not because I was carrying anything I shouldnt but because we were going to miss the flight. Thankfully some women with higher authority requested that our bag wasn't searched so we were let through. The scary thing was though, when we came back, I was informed by the security guard that it had been noted on the tickets that I should be selected for a complete search (As he was searching our hand luggage, shoes and everything else). I cant see any reason why I would attract such special attention, aside from being Australian but I guess thats life post 9-11. On a positive note, the plane got there safely :)
So New York *duh duh da di da... it was great. Getting off the plane and hearing the accents, then seeing the cabs and NYPD cars. It feels like being in a giant movie set. It was a very busy week - there was so much to see and we rushed around like every day but I feel like I only saw about a 1/20th of what is there. New York was probably my last childhood fantasy destination, and going there gave me the same kind of buzz as arriving in London for the first time. It was like OMG Im really actually here. Im still trying to sort out my photos.. Getting there!
Spent the weekend wrapping all the presents I bought in NYC and putting up christmas lights & a little 2.5ft tree. Well it wasnt putting up the tree so much, more folding it out and umm plugging it in.
