Mmmm Pies

I really want a Square Pie today. Our receptionist Kim had one for lunch and ever since then all I can think about is having a square pie with mash & peas... They are having this cool World Cup Pies competition. The Aussie pie is a minced pie. You know, I never really ate them back home much but I would really love a minced meat pie like the ones you get at the footy, with a tomato sauce injection.... mmmm.

Its funny the things I miss over here. I miss jugs of Emu Bitter even though Im not much of a drinker these days (Ive actually taken to having white wine spritzers, or as I like to call them - Water by Stealth).. I miss Chicken Treat/Red Rooster chicken. I can imagine the taste of the BBQ'd chicken skin and chips with chicken salt. (Note to self: make parents drive by Chicken Treat on way home from Perth Airport) I dont really miss Aussie chocolate so much (or the anti-melting agency in Aussie chocolate) although every now and then a Cherry Ripe is a much appreciated accompanyment to a coffee (Thanks Mum for sending those over.) Tim Tams, well, you can get them over here. Ditto for Vegemite (No need to send those jars over guys and I dont eat much bread anyways)... I miss my Mum's "Steak Diane" and Chicken Pie... I'd probably sell an organ for some of my Grandma's cooking - roast potatoes with that crispy cooked in butter edge and pork crackling cooked to perfection, in fact, just ship me a whole roast pork dinner :D

Oh and how about some decent fish & chips? Im yet to experience good fish & chips here and this is the land of fish & chips. Im sick of these masquarading places pretending to be a proper fish & chip shop when they sell burgers and kebabs too. Its fish and chips and the odd deep-fried sausage. And whilst we are on fried accompanyments, can anyone tell me where I can get a dimmy around here? (Dim Sim that is).. and what about a Chiko roll? mmmm dimmys.

Well Im officially super hungry so its time to source out lunch.
