National Gallery

National Gallery

So yesterday I did actually get moving and visit the National Gallery. I arrived with just enough time to check out half the gallery (Paintings 1600-1900) mainly just the highlight pictures such as Sunflowers by Van Gogh and Whistlejacket by Stubbs. I definitely prefer the later works to the earlier, more religious stuff but its interesting to see how well preserved some of the older paintings are. So thats another thing off the Top 10 of London list.

I walked up from Trafalgar Square towards Leicester Square and then onto Tottenham Court Road. I stopped at loads of bookshops along the way picking up a cookbook ( Healthy Eats ) and also had a look in Foyles which is no.3 on the Top 10 for the West End & Soho (Shops) - W00t!

I then stopped by The Light in Shoreditch for my old housemate, Kenny's birthday. Since I was so early, he hadn't arrived yet and when I called him, he wasnt going to be there for awhile yet. I had shorts on and it was getting cold! Plus I didnt really feel like sitting in the pub on my own for the next hour or so as it appeared to be slightly on the hipster/pretentious side.

Today, we went and saw the London Marathon. We stood there and cheered everyone until about 2:30-3pm until most of the runners had passed. We saw the leaders of all the races, Gordon Ramsey, Rebecca Loos, Sophie Anderton (sp?) and Orlaigh from BB but no sign of Jade Goody. There was loads of colourful entrants which you can see in my pics. Well thats about it for this weekend. (oh and its no.2 in Sporting Events for London in the Top 10).

Maybe next weekend I can try to tick more off in my Top 10 book!
