Bella Vita, Broadway Market, London
Brad and I normally head down to Broadway Market each Saturday, to have lunch and do our weekly food shopping. Normally we just grab something from one of the stalls but this week we noticed that a new Italian place had opened up. Bella Vita has now opened where a couple of empty shops had been.
We noticed that everyone was eating giant pizzas, so this was too good an opportunity to miss! We were seated quickly, on a low and impossibly small table in the middle of the restaurant. Drinks arrived quickly, along with lovely fresh bread and olive oil.
Brad opted for the Bianca with parma ham, gorgonzola cheese and fresh cherry tomatoes, whilst I went for the Bella Vita with tomato, mozzarella, rocket, parma ham and parmigiano cheese. My pizza was the most expensive on the menu, coming in at £9 but most of them were priced around the £7 mark.
As you can see from the pizzas, these are much better and bigger than your average chain restaurant on the high street. Brad and I were left completely stuffed after finishing our pizzas. Ingredients were top notch and the dough was just like you would get in a real pizzeria in Italy.
The only quibble we had with Bella Vita was the fact that it took a long, long time for them to give us a bill and then come to take our money. When they did come to take our money they informed us that they couldn’t take cards, so Brad had to run to the post office to get cash out. I’m not sure whether they now accept cards or whether this was down to the fact they were still ironing our teething problems but I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Update: Brad and I went back to Bella Vita last week and they now take credit and debit cards. The service was pretty swift too, with no problems getting the bill.
